Your First Visit

Prior to your scheduled appointment, you will receive a link by text or email to fill out your medical history forms along with other administrative forms. You can save time by completing the new patient forms ahead of time but you can also fill out the forms when you arrive.

At the start of your Comprehensive Exam, one of our team members will use digital x-rays to take a Full Mouth Series of radiographs. For most patients, this series of radiographs only need to be taken once every 5 years. If you have been to another office within the last 5 years, you will need to contact your previous office to have those radiographs transferred to our office.

If you are not experiencing any problems or pain, you will first see a Registered Dental Hygienist in our practice. During this exam, we will discuss your health history, any concerns you may have, and take your blood pressure to ensure that you are in good health. This is a great time to let us know if you are anxious about your appointment.

During this part of the exam, the dental hygienist will identify any type of gum disease. On your first visit, you may not receive a cleaning. There are certain conditions that determine if a "regular cleaning" or "prophy" is not the first best course of treatment. If a "regular cleaning" or "prophy" is appropriate for you, we will attempt to have this finished before the dentist begins her exam.

During the exam with Dr. Allen, she will perform an oral cancer screening, review your x-rays, review your medical history, consult with the dental hygienist about your gum health, and diagnose any issues such as cavities. At the conclusion of this exam, Dr. Allen will discuss with the patient any findings and come up with a treatment plan to address any treatment that may be needed. We will make every attempt to have an estimate of out-of-pocket expenses before you leave the office.
